Update week 1 2010 session
Updated On: Jun 160, 2017

Legislative Update Week of January 3rd
1st Week of the 2010 Legislative Session

The legislature is back in full swing and PFFNH’s government operations have
hit the ground running this week!

Most pressing this week and next is HB 401.  This bill would reduce the
number of beneficiary members of the Retirement System Board Trustees to
just one group I member and one group II member. The full body will vote on
the bill this coming Wednesday and we are well on our way to defeating this
measure.  Many thanks go to our PFFNH members who serve as State
Representatives who are working hard and executing a floor strategy to
ensure our success. We have an excellent chance of killing this bill in the
House.  If you have a relationship with your State Rep and can reach out to
them this week please ask them to “Vote against the committee report of OTP
and vote to ITL HB 401.”  You can find their phones and email here

PFFNH President Dave Lang testified on Thursday to the House Criminal
Justice and Public Safety Committee on two bills regarding Fire Standards
and Training; HB 1131: relative to requirements for fire fighter
certification
http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/legislation/2010/HB1131.html
and HB 1135: requiring the fire standards and training commission to perform
self-reviews of its membership

http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/legislation/2010/HB1135.html  An amendment
was brought by the sponsor, Rep. Shurtleff on HB1135 that would outline
specifically who would serve on the board rather then let the board decide.
Both bills will be sent to subcommittee for a more thorough look at the
issues and more input from witnesses. As these bills progresses we will keep
you updated.
