Enough is Enough

The IAFF remains on the offensive, pushing its message out to protect its members from being publicly demonized by elected officials for their pensions.

General President Harold Schaitberger appeared on Ed Schultz’s nationally syndicated radio show Thursday afternoon.

“Ed, the attacks are coming at us fast and furious from all sides,” President Schaitberger said.

The audio file will be available on our web site this week.

During his television show Wednesday night, Schultz showed the IAFF’s viral video and the print ad that ran in USA Today and blasted the politically motivated attacks on fire fighters. Click here to see the segment on Wednesday’s Ed Show.

"I think it’s despicable that politicians talk about how they’re New York’s finest, yet in a time of negotiations they treat them like dirt. They want to take the pensions so they can look good to those folks who might vote for them because they balanced the budget,” Schultz said.

On Thursday, the IAFF launched a web site where locals can find pension-related materials, from the USA Today ad to the viral video that Schultz showed on The Ed Show. The web site will be updated regularly to include more material for affiliates. We encourage affiliates to share information on this web site with the media and public.

The IAFF will stay in the forefront on this issue in the weeks and months to come to fight against negative perceptions affecting the fire fighter profession.

Stay tuned.
