HB 1436 Evergreen Bill signed into law!
Updated On: Dec 02, 2008

Yesterday afternoon Governor Lynch signed into law HB 1436 the so called “evergreen” bill

This bill levels the playing field for public sector workers and municipalities at the negotiation table. The affects of this important legislation will go far in increasing labor management relations through the removal of management’s ability to freeze out employees especially those on the lower end of the pay plan and those just starting their careers.

Once again Governor Lynch has proven his strong support for firefighters and their families. Governor Lynch spent a tremendous amount of time and effort ensuring he completely understood what this law would do and how it helped our members.

HB 1436 received a lot of negative attention from the Local Government Center along with some pretty persistent municipal managers. This bill was lobbied hard by the locals of the Professional Fire Fighters of NH and our members.  We had strong support from the Senate President Sylvia Larsen and Speaker Terie Norrelli all along the way.

As an attachment tothis article is the amended bill that is now law and takes effect immediately and will pertain to the next negotiated contract that is adopted by the parties. I have also included the roll call votes from the Senate and the House which lists our supporters of this bill.

Thanks again for all of your hard work Please take a minute and give the Governor a call at 603-271-2121 and leave him a message thanking him for once again standing with the members of the PFFNH and  New Hampshire Public Employees and their families.
